What is CryoSlimming?
CryoSlimming, also known as cryotherapy, is a treatment that uses cold temperatures to destroy fat cells. The process works by freezing fat cells, which causes them to die. The dead cells are then flushed out of the body through the lymphatic system. Because fat cells have a much higher freezing point than other cells, the surrounding tissue is not affected.
For many of our Buckhead and Alpharetta clients, CryoSlimming is a non-surgical body contouring alternative to liposuction. It can be used to treat different areas of the body, including the abdomen, thighs, arms, and back, and it is the ideal choice for anyone looking to lose inches around their waist or arms or to remove stubborn pockets of fat that do not improve with diet and exercise alone
What’s the Difference Between CryoSlimming and CoolSculpting?
CryoSlimming and CoolSculpting use cold temperatures to break down fat cells. They are both non-invasive, non-surgical, and require no downtime. There are differences, however, that are important to our CryoSlimming clients in the greater Buckhead and Alpharetta areas.
First, during a CryoSlimming treatment, your fat cells are heated before being frozen. A CoolSculpting treatment only freezes your fat cells; heating the fat cells first is not part of the CoolSculpting treatment protocol. However, by heating your fat cells first, they are put into a state of shock, making the treatment more effective. In addition, alternating between heat and cold during a CryoSlimming treatment has an ancillary toning benefit that helps to produce collagen and elastin in the skin.
Second, CryoSlimming uses a wand, while CoolSculpting requires the targeted portion of your fat to be placed between two very cold plates, which can result in the pinching of your skin.
How Does CryoSlimming Work?
During your Buckhead or Alpharetta CryoSlimming treatment, which lasts 30 minutes, heat is applied for two minutes, then cold is applied for the duration of the session with temperatures as low as 17 degrees Fahrenheit.
After the cold, the area is rewarmed to help start moving the dead fat cells out of the area. The dead fat is then removed from your body through the lymphatic system, which takes about a week.
The number of CryoSlimming treatments needed to achieve the goals of our Buckhead and Alpharetta clients varies, but most of them require six weekly sessions. Eating a nutritious diet and maintaining an exercise regimen will help your results last forever.
What Can CryoSlimming Treat?
For our Buckhead and Alpharetta clients, we have used CryoSlimming to target saddlebags, bat wings, muffin tops, and double chins that are difficult to eliminate through diet and exercise alone.
To achieve optimal results, we recommend our Buckhead or Alpharetta clients commit to a package of six CryoSlimming sessions, performed once every week. Most clients see results from the first session, but sustainable change tends to become most prominent around the third and fourth sessions.
The Benefits of CryoSlimming
CryoSlimming, the safest option currently available to eliminate unwanted subcutaneous fat, allows our Buckhead and Alpharetta clients to achieve amazing results in fat reduction in areas such as the hips, belly, inner and outer thighs, back, under the arms, and even the chin. How to Prepare for Your CryoSlimming Treatment
For clients receiving CryoSlimming at our Buckhead or Alpharetta locations, we recommend they do not eat or drink any carbs or sugars two hours prior and two hours after each treatment. During the treatment, we are triggering the death of fat cells, and when you eat or drink carbs or sugars, you are fueling the fat cells, which makes them more difficult to destroy. If you must eat within that two-hour window, then stick to protein and vegetables. If enjoying a salad, be careful with the dressing, as most are loaded with sugar.
If possible, avoid all sugars four to five hours before and after each session. This includes pasta, rice, bread, cereals, fruit, juice, and most other carbs.
Avoid exercising two hours before your session, because exercise makes it more difficult to cool down your body, which is necessary to maximize CryoSlimming’s effectiveness.
Come to your CryoSlimming session at our Buckhead or Alpharetta office with clean skin that is free of oils, lotions, and makeup. These products have the potential to interact with the cold and cause unwanted side effects.
What to Expect During Your CryoSlimming Treatment at Our Buckhead or Alpharetta Location
First, a water-based gel will be applied to your skin in the area being treated. This gel acts as a conductor of the cold and is safe on your skin. Second, using an elastic band, four static heads will be placed on your treatment area – where the gel was first applied. Third, two electrodes will be placed on your calf; these two electrodes stimulate lymphatic drainage during treatment.
During your treatment, the temperature on the static heads will drop close to 17 degrees Fahrenheit. Fat cells do not survive at this temperature, causing apoptosis – which means programmed cell death.
The treatment starts and ends with a warming sequence using a wand for increased circulation, while the cold sequence feels like a deep tissue ice massage. Most of our Buckhead and Alpharetta clients report that the CryoSlimming treatment is comfortable and, in many cases, quite enjoyable.
Once dead, the fat cells become cellular debris that goes into your bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, your body’s lymphatic system starts working to flush the cellular debris out of your body over the next 14 days.
CryoSlimming Aftercare for Our Buckhead & Alpharetta Clients
After your treatment is complete, your skin will be red in the treated area. This is normal, as your skin was just in contact with a very cold applicator. This redness usually disappears soon after your treatment, usually no longer than the next day. Your urine may be slightly darker because your lymphatic system is flushing out toxins. It is important that you drink at least two liters of water per day, not only as a regular healthy routine, but also to maximize drainage and stay well hydrated. This is good advice for anyone living in the Buckhead or Alpharetta areas, not just for CryoSlimming clients.
Working out after your CryoSlimming session is encouraged. Anything that stimulates lymphatic drainage – including a good sweat session at the gym, moving, walking, and swimming – is an excellent choice. However, wait 72 hours before using a sauna or tanning bed.
Other activities that support the lymphatic system can be helpful, such as lymphatic massage.
