Girls just wanna have… healthy and glowing skin! Summer is just around the corner and all I can think of lately is getting that glow on my skin back after such a harsh winter.
Even though I LOVE summers, I have to admit they can be tough on my skin. Premature aging, dryness, burns, and tissue damage are just a few of the issues that spending hours under my beloved sun can cause. Ugh!
I’ve been a professional aesthetician for over ten years now and even own two med spas in Atlanta. I kid you not, it’s taken me a long time to finally figure out you CAN get the best of both worlds. Yes, it’s totally possible to enjoy a sunny day without making a wreck of our skin and below I share all my summer skincare tips that will get you glowing in no time!
Summer Skincare Tips To Get A Natural Glow
1. Get High-Quality Sleep
Healthy skin starts with the basics. Not only does getting a good night’s sleep help you look refreshed and wide-eyed, but it also helps us keep our metabolism and cortisol levels in check. Getting AT LEAST 7 hours of sleep and keeping a regular sleep schedule will help your skin stay moisturized and fresh.
And while we’re at it – you could sleep 12+ hours a day but it won’t matter if you don’t remove your makeup before going to bed or if you’re sleeping on dirty sheets! Make sure your sheets are always fresh and if possible, get yourself a set of high-quality silk sheets! They will help you sleep so much better and stop your skin from creasing at night.
2. Face Masks
Not only is using face masks on a regular basis THE best way to make sure your skin is always moisturized, but they’re also so much fun to use! This is one of my favorite summer skincare tips because I always make sure to make it a “me-time” ritual whenever I apply one on my face. I like to light some candles, pour myself a little drink, and listen to an empowering podcast or read a chapter of a book so I can relax while the mask does its job.
My favorite face maks for my rituals at the moment are from Farmhouse Fresh! If you know me, you know I live at a farm so I love all things that are organic and have that homemade feel to them. They make me feel soooo fresh! My current favorite is Guac Star (avocado) for hydration, Soothing Active Yogurt Mask for tightening, and Clarifying Mud Exfoliation Mask for toning and exfoliating my face!
3. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen
Using sunscreen on a daily basis is probably one of my biggest summer skincare tips. I love being under the sun, but seriously, it really IS our skin’s worst enemy in more ways than just an aesthetical sense.
Make sure you’re wearing your sunscreen every single day and reapplying it every 2 hours or so to ensure it does its job. You’ll thank yourself in the long run for making a habit of wearing sunscreen religiously!
4. Keep Your Skin Moisturized
Staying hydrated is key to glowing skin any time of the year, but it’s even more important to give it a little push during the summer, especially if you live in a dry place. I love using Be Glowy serum to keep my skin nourished and hydrated at all times during the summer months. All I have to do is apply a few drops and my skin will stay moisturized for the entire day!
5. Take Your Vitamins
Healthy skin comes from the inside out and no matter how many products you apply to your face, you’ll never look your best if you don’t feel your best!
Take your vitamins. No matter what! Find yourself a brand you love and set a time of the day to take them so it becomes a habit. I like to take my vitamins after my morning yoga session and breakfast because they seem to settle in my stomach best during that time, but I have plenty of clients who prefer to take their vitamins before going to bed. There are no rules here – test and see what works best for you and make a habit of it. Not only will you see the difference on your skin, but you’ll also feel so much healthier and energized throughout the day.

6. Drink Lots of Water!
Last but not least (and probably one of the most important summer skincare tips): DRINK YOUR WATER! Staying hydrated is essential and your skin will just love you for staying on top of your needed water intake! Two liters per day should be the goal here. If you’re like me and don’t necessarily love drinking water, what really helps me is adding a bit of lemon to it to give it a nice taste (and as a bonus, it boosts my metabolism!)
I also like to invest in cute water bottles. Not only do they make a great accessory, but carrying it around at all times helps me make sure I take a couple of sips every now and again. Without even realizing it, I’ve drunk my two liters!

A tiny sip of water here and there, fewer memes and more sleep, and a dose of hydrating face masks will have an incredible effect on your overall health.
