While professional treatments certainly help, there’s nothing better you can do for your skin than looking after it right from home. As a professional aesthetician, I love researching and trying out the latest technology in the skincare industry, and while lasers and products are AMAZING these days, there are three basic things everyone needs to do in order to have gorgeous skin (yes, even if you’re investing in the latest, most expensive beauty treatments out there!)

3 Things You Can Do At Home For Gorgeous Skin

1. Drink lots of water

Not drinking your H2O is one of the most harmful things you can do to your body and skin. Yep, great skin comes from the inside out, and if you want to get that natural glow, you’ve got to drink up! You can pretty much invest in the most expensive moisturizers out there and apply them religiously, but your skin will never look as good as it could if your body is dehydrated.

If you’re not crazy about drinking plain water, I recommend putting a bit of lemon in it to give it a little bit of taste and as a bonus, boost your metabolism! Another great tip is carrying a cute bottle of water everywhere you go and taking little sips throughout the day.

2. Use Vitamin C To Your Advantage

I actually wrote an entire post about the benefits of vitamin C in skincare, but I’m mentioning it again here because I simply can’t get enough of how amazing it is for your skin. When applied topically, Vitamin C gets to work to produce collagen, promote cellular turnover (which makes healing more effective), protect from sun damage, hydrate, and oh so much more!

Seriously, I can’t stop gushing about how great vitamin C is for skin health. If you aren’t already, make sure you start implementing it in your skincare routine. These are a few of my go-to skincare products with vitamin C in them:

Skinceuticals CE Ferulic - vitamin c serumSkinceuticals C E Ferulic

Skinceuticals C E Ferulic is one of the best vitamins for clear skin. This vitamin C serum helps neutralize free radicals induced by UVA/UVB, infrared radiation (IRA), and ozone pollution (O3), which may lead to visible signs of accelerated skin aging. In addition to antioxidant protective benefits, C E Ferulic improves signs of aging and photo-damage, the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and the loss of firmness, while brightening skin’s complexion.

3. Stay Out of the Sun

Okay, you don’t need to start living by night, but try to best to avoid over-exposure to sunlight as much as you can. Not only can UV rays cause a ton of skin issues like sunburns and cancer, but exposure to rays can quickly make skin less elastic, which essentially translates into wrinkles *gasp*.

Again, this doesn’t mean you need to hide from the sun, but definitely try your best to not overdo any tanning sessions. Make sure you’re wearing your sunscreen every single day and reapplying it every 2 hours or so to ensure it does its job. You’ll thank yourself in the long run for making a habit of wearing sunscreen religiously!

I hope these 3 simple tips were helpful if you’re just getting started with skincare! It’s nothing out of this world, so starting with these three things is an amazing way to start crafting your perfect skincare routine.
