As an active mom, farm owner, and business owner, you can imagine my schedule tends to be pretty chaotic. One thing most of my clients have a hard time believing is that my skincare routine is actually pretty simple. I never go over the top with my morning skincare regimen (there are only so many hours in a day and I much prefer to spend time with my kids than undergo a 16-step routine every day!).
The quality of the products I use is SO much more important to me than the amount of them. I never, ever forget to do a simple routine every morning to keep my outlook on a busy day ahead bright and beautiful, but that routine consists more of activities than I enjoy rather than spending too long on my looks. In fact, I spend more time journaling, exercising, and making myself a healthy breakfast than I do applying products on my face (it actually just takes me 15 minutes to complete my skincare regime!).
If you’re super busy like me and would rather not follow a 2-hour skincare routine on the daily, here’s one that’s JUST as good and requires almost no time!
Fun fact: Did you know I don’t wear much makeup? I prefer to keep things simple and I’m a firm believer that healthy, glowy skin is the best look! I much prefer to spend my valuable time using the RIGHT products for my skin (ones that will have great long-term effects) rather than applying makeup.
Easy Morning Skincare Routine For Busy Moms
Pro tip: Aside from using this easy skincare routine, I also recommend spending at least thirty minutes doing something you love to start the day right. Remember: self-care comes in all forms and it needs to nourish you from the inside out! Aside from taking care of your skin, make sure you’re also nurturing your body and soul. Something as simple as meditating, doing yoga, journaling, or reading a chapter of a book can make a humongous difference in your mood for the rest of the day.
Without further ado, here’s my current morning skincare routine:
Step 1: Remove impurities
The first step of my skincare routine is to apply Aveeno’s Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser to remove any impurities. You can find it at Target and it’s super affordable.
Step 2: Toner Pads
I’m actually super proud of this step because I was the person that formulated the pads I use! I call them my “drill sergeants” because they keep melanocyte cells (the ones that produce melanin and are the culprits when it comes to dark spots) evenly lined up. If you want these, you can pop by at Bella to get yours.
Step 3: Protective Serum
Protective serum is a must, and even more so when it comes with a tint of Vitamin C to help your skin prevent redness and inflammation. I use SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF and I can’t recommend it enough!
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic is one of the best vitamins for clear skin. This vitamin C serum helps neutralize free radicals induced by UVA/UVB, infrared radiation (IRA), and ozone pollution (O3), which may lead to visible signs of accelerated skin aging. In addition to antioxidant protective benefits, C E Ferulic improves signs of aging and photo-damage, the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and the loss of firmness, while brightening skin’s complexion.
Step 4: Moisturize
I use just one pump of Alastin’s Restorative Skin Complex, a moisturizing serum that has peptides that work deep in the skin to support collagen production, and elastin fibers that fight aging like no other product in the market does. My clients who have started doing this see a juicy look after only 2 weeks!
Step 5: Sunscreen
ESSENTIAL! If you’re only going to do ONE thing to take care of your skin, make it using sunscreen! I always go for an SPF of around 50 that has zinc and titanium and ingredients that I can pronounce! Revision Intellishade ® is amazing because it’s a tinted moisturizer that gives your face a bit of color and a healthy glow.
Please don’t skip sunscreen!
Revision Intellishade ®
Award-winning formula that leaves a healthy, natural glow. Anti-aging daily moisturizer intelligently designed to deliver the power of 5 anti-aging products in 1. Helps to correct, protect, conceal, brighten and hydrate skin to deliver clinically-proven results. This 5-in-1 moisturizer features over 20 age-defying ingredients, broad-spectrum SPF45 protection plus a universal tint for an instant glow.
Step 5: Eye serum
Our eyes are the first thing in our body to show signs of aging because the skin around them is super thin and delicate. Taking care of your eyes is essential both to prevent signs of aging as well as helping you look fresh (under-eye bags are not a great look!). I use Elastiderm Eye Serum by Obangi to retain elasticity.
Obagi Elastiderm Eye Serum
The Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Serum combats the problematic signs of aging around the delicate eye area. Active ingredients rebuild the elasticity to alleviate bags under the eye area, as well as reduce puffiness that can hinder the appearance of healthy, bright-looking skin. The serum also reduces the appearance of dark circles under and around the eye area for a more vibrant, energetic look and feel.
And that’s my morning skincare routine! As you can see, great skincare habits don’t have to take hours out of your day. It’s definitely possible to give your skin the best in just a couple of minutes. No matter how packed your schedule is, make sure you always take a little time for self-care (this routine only takes 15 minutes out of my day). Not only does having healthy skin make you look great, but it also makes you feel amazing and ready to take on the day.
Do you usually find yourself being too busy for self-care in the mornings? What’s your morning routine like?
